Kendall Square - Cambridge

Directly across the Charles River from Boston, Kendall Square in Cambridge has served as an important gateway between Cambridge and Boston since the first opened in 1793. Once the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) moved to its current location in 1915, the area has consistently lured firms who wanted to be in close proximity. Today, many biotechnology and information technology (IT) firms are housed in nearby offices. Kendall Square is easily accessible from our Harvard Square hotel on the MBTA Red Line, two stops from the Harvard Square subway stop.

Throughout the Kendall Square area, all is not business however; as the area has become a haven for a plethora of new housing, retail and outdoor activities attracting a young and vibrant energy. Visitors may dine at some of the city's best restaurants including Legal Seafood, Cambridge Brewing Company and EVOO.

For those visiting during the warm summer months, be sure to check out the Farmers Market featuring locally grown fruits, vegetables and breads; the summer concert series with free outdoor shows on Tuesdays and Thursdays; or, for the adventurer, rent a kayak and explore the Charles River. Don't fret if you are visiting in the winter; be sure to lace up the skates at the popular Kendall Square ice skating rink.
